Fantastic piece. Love the vulnerability and transparency. Your system seems quite generous to me. I think you could charge $300-400 even without the 1:1 sessions.
The 1:1 sessions add tremendous value and will be a lot for you to handle if you get quite a few students — so in future you may consider making those an optional add-on for an extra amount. Totally up to you, just a thought.
I’ve been contemplating these same questions for a long time. Have done everything from gifted offerings to donation-based to sliding-scale to fixed price (usually with available scholarships).
I’m not seeking further meditation training currently but if you ever want to have that conversation about money-feelings I would love to dive deep heart-to-heart with someone around that — because it’s been such a huge question for me.
wow thanks so much jordan! i'm grateful for your comment and also reposting the essay.
i think you're right that given the 1:1 sessions, $400 is a generous price. i guess one piece i didn't notice and write about is that i also just had no idea how many people would want to sign up for the class, and was afraid that asking for more would keep people away, even with the sliding scale! if/when i run this course again, i'll consider more options.
happy to share that so far 15 people have signed up, and about half of them have offered the full $400, which to me feels wonderful. it's a lot of money to me, and i also am glad there is room for people who aren't up to giving that much money.
i would love to have a call and talk about this sometime!! i've got a super full few weeks here before the class starts, with some travel and a silent retreat of my own to attend, and final preparations for the class, but maybe we can call a bit later in april?
Sure my friend, I’ll DM you! Big Love! Congrats on the signups for your course, everything you’ve written suggests to me you’ll lead a beautiful course from the heart with openness and wisdom 🙏🏼❤️🔥
P.S. You may enjoy my piece, ‘The Religion of Money,’ which explores some of these questions: https://open.substack.com/pub/jordanbates/p/the-religion-of-money?r=ubft&utm_medium=ios
adding it to my reading list and looking forward to it, thanks!
